Community Service Spotlight: Radford Softball & Operation Christmas Child

Over the past few days, the Radford softball team has been tweeting about Operation Christmas Child and sharing pictures of the shoeboxes they’ve donated to the project.

“Operation Christmas Child is a project of the international relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.”

Each box typically contains one medium to large “wow” gift that will capture the child’s attention the instant he or she opens the box, such as a soccer ball or a doll, in addition to a few smaller items.

Today is the last day of the shoebox donation period, so if you’re interested in contributing you can find your nearest box drop-off location here!
